Digital Leased Lines (IBS)
The Digital Leased Line is sometimes referred to as IBS Services (International Business Satellite Service). It is a point to point circuit similar to the Analog Leased Line. The Digital Leased Line transmits via fibre cable at speeds of 56kbps up to 2.048mbps. It is available at many locations within The Bahamas and to the United States and Canada. The locations are termed as follows:
- Digital Local Loop
- Domestic Digital Circuit
- International Digital Service
Digital Local Loop
The Digital Local Loop service within Nassau or The Bahamas, transmits over analog cable either by copper wire, T-screen or Fibre Optics. Once the circuit is within a 3-mile radius from our Transmission Centre, digital connectivity can be accomplished.
Domestic Digital Circuit
This Domestic Digital Service is the link between Nassau and the Family Islands. The service transmits via a Digital Micro-Wave Link.
International Digital Service
This Circuit transmits via fibre cable between Nassau, Bahamas and Vero Beach, Florida, using one of the registered International Carriers. The local customer is connected to BaTelCo's Transmission Centre via Digital Local Loops.

Analog Leased Lines
BTC provides International Leased Lines between The Bahamas and most areas of the United States, Canada and the Caribbean countries.
The Analog Leased Line is commonly available and used in speeds of 9.6bps to 2.048mbps for use in the transmission of voice and data.
An international circuit is used for point to point transmission of data either via cable or satellite. It is a 24-hour online service, which proves to be cost-efficient to those businesses having to transmit numerous amounts of data either all day or most of the working day. It is used mainly by Banks, Travel Agencies, Hotels and Investment Companies.
The Analog Leased Line is commonly available and used in speeds of 9.6bps for use in the transmission of voice and data.
