New Providence, The Bahamas, December 18, 2008 - The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited, BTC has announced that it has signed agreements with communications giant AT&T. This will allow prepaid customers to use their cell phones on AT&T's network when travelling.
Marlon Johnson, Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Business Development said "This is certainly a milestone for BTC. Earlier this year we launched prepaid roaming with T-Mobile, we have since signed agreements with AT&T which will allow our customers also to use their pre-paid cell phones in the United States."
As Christmas is fast approaching, there is a large number of customers travelling to the United States to complete last minute shopping. "We are certain that our customers will be elated that they can use their phones from the minute they get off the airplane." Johnson continued
To add minutes to your cell phone when abroad, dial 1-242-468-0000, and follow the prompts. Customers will need to purchase BTC phone cards.
"We have a distributor in the United States that has over 80 number of retailers selling BTC cards in $20 and $50 denominations throughout South Florida. We are publishing the locations of these vendors on our website and on brochures that we will make available to the public," added Johnson

Prepaid roaming with AT&T costs $1.29 per minute. In addition to making calls, customers are also able to send text messages at a low cost of $0.33 per text message when travelling. This is in line with customary post-paid roaming rates
In the new year BTC hopes to expand prepaid roaming to encompass countries in the Caribbean. |
