New Providence, The Bahamas, November 3, 2008 – The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited (BTC) has announced that it has launched “Mobile to Mobile Top Up”. This new service allows prepaid customers with a positive balance to transfer credit from their prepaid account to any other prepaid account.
BTC VP for Marketing, Sales & Business Development, Marlon Johnson said “The introduction of Mobile to Mobile Top Up will give our customers added flexibility in accessing cell minutes. This service allows customers to lend or provide minutes to each other. Once you have funds on your prepaid phone, you can share them if you like.”
Transactions are only allowed in whole dollar amounts ($1.00 and greater). Prepaid customers will not have to sign up for Mobile to Mobile Top Up. The service is accessed by dialing *44.
Customers will have to follow the below steps to transfer funds.
Step 1: Dial *44
Step 2: Select the prompt for Mobile to Mobile Top Up (which is Selection 4)
Step 3: Enter the 10 digit telephone number that you wish to top up (E.g. 1-242-000-0000)
Step 4: The telephone number entered is read back for confirmation
Step 5: Press 1 to confirm the number that you entered
Step 6: Enter the amount to transfer (only whole numbers from $1.00)
Step 7: The amount entered is read back
Step 8: Press 1 to confirm the amount entered
Step 9: The customer is then advised that the transfer occurred successfully, and the call is terminated.
The charge to top up is twenty-five cents for each transaction, and customers can top up as many times as they like. At this time, this service is only available to prepaid customers and postpaid subscribers are not able to top up cell phones.
In just a few weeks, BTC will launch BU. BU offers a full suite of mobile entertainment services allowing GSM customers to showcase their individuality and uniqueness. With the proliferation of new media in the global sphere, BTC believes that BU is poised to meet their customers’ needs, allowing them to personalize their phones and extend its use from simple voice services to new and exciting data features.
