Nassau, Bahamas July 22nd 2008: The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited (BTC) announced this evening that it has made another step towards paperless communications for its customers and the general public in introducing the e-Directory and telephone directory on CD. In addition BTC will be making significant changes and additions to The Bahamas Telephone Directory making it more customer friendly.
We at BTC are mandated to keep our customers connected to their needs and to make communications as accessible as possible. This evenings launch of the e-Directory, and placing the telephone directory on CD is definitely a noteworthy milestone in this regard, said Mr. I. Kirk Griffin, Executive Vice President.
BTCs e-Directory has been branded as www.bahamasypages.com and will be on par with other international online telephone directories offering increased circulation, audio and video links and advertising. With the click of a mouse you can find whatever you need in a matter of seconds.
The Directory evolution doesnt stop there as BTC has embarked on several major initiatives to ensure that the 2009 telephone directory is not only current, but eye catching and informative for tourists and residents alike.
The Directory Publications Department will be making changes to all sections of the book in preparation for the 2009 Telephone Directory, and for the first time the company will offer the Island Pages, Restaurant Pages, Coupon Pages and will print the White Pages in full colour. It will also be adding sections on Community Endorsements and a Mobile Directory.
The Island Pages will include details about the Family Islands including history, size, population, important events and places of interest. BTC anticipates that the Restaurant Pages will be a hit as it will provide details on the native delicacies the country has to offer. It will also allow advertisers to provide listings on their menus, dress requirements and operating hours. The Coupon Page allows businesses to advertise coupons for special savings or discounts. Traditionally the white pages are printed in black and white with spot blue colour. In 2009, expect a fully transformed phone book that says it all with colour.
Coupled with the many additions to the directory are the changes that will be made to the existing pages. Changes will be made to the Government Pages, Info Pages and the Superselling Pages. The Government Pages will now include the history of Government of the Commonwealth of The Bahamas and it will also include photos of all of the Cabinet Ministers. The Info Pages will be expanded to include an abundance of details from hurricane tips, to information for senior citizens, civic organizations, business services and much more. BTC is also making changes to its Superselling pages, allowing advertisers to purchase premium ad space in the front section of the yellow pages. The super selling pages will be printed on glossy paper making them more outstanding than a regular ad.
BTC will also introduce community fillers for endorsements. These will include sections on safety tips, testimonials, social and community initiatives.
The coming soon Mobile Directory will allow users to access the yellow pages on their mobile phones.
