VOICEMAIL UPGRADE ISSUES
Nassau, Bahamas, March 27th, 2008: The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited, BTC began an upgrade on its wireless voicemail platform on March 7th. In preparation for the upgrade, the company issued a series of public notices informing its customers of the upgrade advising them that they may experience unexpected intermittent issues with the new wireless voicemail platform during the implementation phase.

Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Business Development, Marlon Johnson said “Our upgrade was completed in a few short days. However we have been advised by our technical teams that we are experiencing some issues with the new platform which resulted in many of our customers not being able to readily access the voicemail platform from their cell phones and landlines by using *86, 557-0000 or 557-0001.” Mr. Johnson continued saying that “We are also addressing an irregularity with the ‘message waiting’ indicator on cell phones as some customers are telling us that the indicator is not appearing when there is a voice message and the indicator not clearing once customers retrieve their messages.”

BTC technicians and engineers are currently working closely with the voicemail and related software vendors. These issues are scheduled to be rectified by the Saturday morning. BTC apologizes for this inconvenience, and would like to thank the public for their continued patronage.
