TDMA ROAMING ENDS APRIL 30TH
Nassau, Bahamas April 2,, 2008: The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited, BTC would like to remind their TDMA customers who use their cell phones when they travel that international TDMA roaming ends on April 30th.

In a release on March 14th, BTC advised its customers that its largest roaming partner AT&T had already began decommissioning its TDMA network, and that limited roaming was available in South Florida.

Vice President for Marketing, Sales & Business Development, Marlon Johnson continues to encourage TDMA customers to move over to the GSM network. Mr. Johnson said “TDMA customers that use their phones when they travel should visit their nearest Cyber World or BTC at JFK or the Mall at Marathon or any BTC location in the Family Islands BTC to move over to the GSM network.” Johnson continued saying that “GSM offers international roaming on more than 145 networks in over 80 countries around the world. It also allows customers to be able to access new features like multi-media messaging that will become available in a few months.”

BTC will decommission its TDMA network at the end of the year. The company is presently moving throughout the Family Islands upgrading GSM cellular service in preparation for the end of TDMA.
