Nassau, Bahamas, March 4th, 2008: The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Limited, BTC introduced “i-Text” to its mobile customers today. i-Text is an added feature which allows customers in The Bahamas to send text messages to friends and family throughout North America and the Caribbean. BTC has partnered with VeriSign an industry leader in text messaging to provide this service.
Vice President for Marketing, Sales and Business Development, Marlon Johnson said “We are happy to announce this new service which allows our mobile customers to send text messages throughout North America and the Caribbean. It allows families to keep in contact with their children abroad in college” He continued saying “This is just the first phase of the launch and in the upcoming months we plan to extend our coverage by adding more carriers.”
BTC is offering i-Text at a special thirty day introductory rate of just fifteen cents per text message for all international texts. Following this introductory rate each text message will cost twenty five cents.
i-Text currently has coverage through AT&T, Verizon, T-Mobile, Sprint, Cable & Wireless and Digicel networks.
To use i-Text you must have the text messaging feature on your cell phone.
