Nassau, New Providence - May 17th, 2007 – The Bahamas Telecommunications Company Ltd. (BTC), is pleased to announce its Title Sponsorship of two major events, Stepping on Da Shores and the Bahamas Baseball Federation Championship. BTC’s “BU” service along with KO Production will showcase live on stage Greek Organizations (Fraternities) from across the United States and local chapters, who will be putting their best step forward in an awe-inspiring step show better known as “Sing”. Although many Greek Organizations are known mostly for their stepping, these organizations were established as service oriented organizations; that gave back to their communities, assisted black students with attending college and networking after graduation.
The Bahamas Baseball Federation which has been in existence since 2003 has increased in support from six members to thirteen members, presents the 5th Annual BTC Andre Rodgers Baseball Championships May 31st through June 3rd, 2007. This Championship will showcase over Five Hundred boys and girls from the age of Six to Twenty-Five years on Thirty-Four teams from islands throughout the Bahamas. Presently, there are eight players from the federation who have led their US high schools to State Championships. Also, forty federation players are presently in college playing baseball or have played college baseball. Additionally, two federation alumni are currently playing professional minor league baseball; Antoine Richardson, San Francisco Giants and Angelo Burrows formerly of the Atlanta Braves who is now an independent agent.
BTC encourages the public to support both events, as these events help to build the youth of the nation and give them positive outlets to showcase their talents.
